Oh yeah. Welcome to the Boss It Podcast. My name is Sophia Noreen and I took an Etsy startup and launched it in big-box retailers within 12 months. During each episode, we will share proven life hacks that will keep you on top and striving every day. There should be no hesitation. Make a plan. Take action. We are here for you. Welcome to the Boss It Podcast. I'm your host, Sophia Noreen. Now, before we jump right into it, I want to ask you a question. Have you ever wanted to start a project or take an initiative, but had trouble pushing it into action? I know I have, especially when my mind is full of self-doubt and concerns about failure. Do you look to others that just seem to be taking action all the time and getting things done and wonder, wow, "they really got it together". Well, I'm going to tell you right now, I've been on both sides of this discussion. The first being the girl who was just looking around, wondering how everyone managed it. And now everyone thinks that I have everything all together because I continue to push forward and reach for far-reaching goals. And I'll tell you one thing in both scenarios, the actress is the same. She is an ambitious thought leader and will always be dreaming. There are four main differences that I have found between the first and second actresses. By the end of this episode, you will know the four concepts that you should establish even before you start setting up your measurable goals and action planning. These four concepts will help you establish the groundwork that is required to keep you motivated every day. These are extremely important points. Jot these four points down either in your notebook or on your phone, or head over to Boss It Club.com forward slash pages, forward slash podcast, to receive a free worksheet to help guide you through these exercises. The link will be in the show notes. This is a great exercise. That'll help bring clarity to your personal situation. And will push you into action towards that very big goal. Okay, so let's get started. The very first point is that you need a North Star. What is the reason why you get up and get going every day? This is commonly referred to as your "why" in business. From my personal experience, money will not be enough to motivate or push you and keep you into action. Many people will start towards a business or a career goal and will visualize a large house, many cars, boats, private jets, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. This is all great for a very small sprint, but we know for any goal, personal or business, you need the stamina to push forward, especially during rough times. My suggestion is to align your North Star with your "why", to a community or to a person rather than to a physical object. For example, I have two North Stars, my daughters who look at me and I can see inspiration in their eyes when they hear that mommy's products have hit Walmart, retail shelve They honestly love the store, so to see a product that has a name Also Sophia on the package, it's a dream come true for everyone. The second one, I start with is my community. I wanted to ensure that they would be able to purchase holiday decor, so the Eid and Ramadan collection was priced accordingly. I pushed even harder, knowing that thousands of families would be relying on these products. If I had only aligned my "why" or North Star on monetary goals, I would have failed as money takes a long time to accumulate. And then I may have quit. My suggestion is to look at your goal and then see who you are completing this for. Are you starting a business because you want more freedom and flexibility, to spend time with your family Regardless of your goal, you need to have a solid North Star that is external to you and the perceived benefit is for someone else, not only for you. The next concept to clarify is your vision. What are you trying to accomplish? Whether you like to believe in manifestations or not, one thing is for sure if your mind knows where it's going, it will push you into action to help you achieve your vision. So for example, I knew I wanted our products on Walmart shelves. I am not exaggerating when I say this. I was able to see the product sitting on Walmart shelves So much so, that I knew how to design the packages to attracted a Walmart corporate employee, who helped introduce me to the buyer. Yes. My vision actually assisted me to move in the right direction. If you have a compelling vision, it will always move you towards your goal. So again, this exercise might seem a bit out there or "Woohoo", but it can work magic. If you run a service-based business, such as consulting or photography, or even have them planning you could imagine the most ideal work schedule with your most ideal client. You could even imagine scaling your business, so you have full teams working with you towards your goals. Again, the magic about visualization is you can make it what you want it to be. And again, trust me, you need to put in the hard work. I'm not saying you sit there and you visualize all day long. You need to visualize and then push into action, so you can have your dreams realized. The third point is you need to be accountable to someone else. Oh yes. This is the most important point of the entire process. You must be accountable to someone else, especially when you are just starting out. The hill, you need to climb is very steep and long before you see your first goal and your first win; You must show up over and over again, and you should trust a group of individuals who could be your community, a group of friends, or your family with your goals. You need to ask them to hold you accountable, so you show up and deliver. Many people are actually very scared or slightly there is to trust others with their project idea. I was in this position a few times before I started Also Sophia. I attempted to start a blog. I even did a vlog, but because I didn't hold myself accountable by joining community group or asking friends or family to push me along the project's faded, just as fast as they started. This time, it was different. When I started also Sophia, not only did I have the North Stars in place, a solid vision, I also had a large accountability group. I joined an online membership community to keep me motivated. And I also told all of my friends that my goal was to have these products on Walmart shelves. I even remember I told my mentor during our very first conversation that I wanted our products on Walmart shelves. So my friends find that community, that friend circle, or a family member who will ensure you do not give up and you continue to move forward. And if you're looking for a community, join us the newsletter at Bossitclub.com so, you know, when we open up our latest community circle. Okay. Now we're on to number four. You need to break down your goals into small, actionable steps. Oh boy. Have you ever looked at the goal and thought, "how could I ever do that"? Or better yet, make thousands of excuses as to why this goal will never be a reality for you again? Yes. I have been in the situation. But I am a very naive optimist. And even when the goal seems crazy and it's a huge stretch, I still plan my steps towards it. For example, this podcast was planned and executed about seven weeks. The steps to make a single episode of our podcast is approximately nine steps For a single product. The number of steps to go from product concept to on the shelf ready is approximately 24 steps. So think about that guys. 24 single steps, okay. To bring a product from a concept phase, all the way to reality on the shelf ready for you to purchase is 24 steps. Huge goal, but each goal is broken into smaller single step actions. For example, a step could be order per sample or create a barcode for packaging and so on and so on. If you are in the service space industry, a big goal could be tied to impacting or serving 20 new customers a month. Your smaller goal could be to return an email within 24 hours as this would build trust and confidence with your potential new client. It could also be reached out to a hundred new prospective clients this month. Okay. There you have it. Let's recap. And if you have drifted off, come back and ensure you catch the last few minutes of this episode. If you have not done so already grab your phone or your notebook and take some notes, or if you like head over to Boss It Club.com forward slash pages, forward slash podcast, to receive a free worksheet help guide you through these exercises. The link will be in the show notes. Okay. So number one, make sure you have a solid North Star and a why in your business. What will keep you motivated when you hit rough patches during your business journey? Number two, what is your vision? Make sure you manifest your vision every day. If possible, potentially hang up your worksheet or look at your notes to remind yourself of the vision and your why. What's the purpose? Why are you moving and pushing so hard? Number three, who are you accountable to? In addition to your North star, this accountability group should call you out. If you are not following through. Make sure you entrust a group of friends and tell them what you're doing and what your goals are. And then don't forget, number four, you need to dream big and have large goals. Just break them down into smaller, actionable steps. Okay guys, remember if you can dream it and see it, then you can make it happen. Just make a plan and take action. That's all for now. Talk to you later. Bye. So my fellow bosses, did you enjoy that episode now? It's time for you to make a solid plan and take action. But first, remember to subscribe and follow the Boss It podcast.
