In this episode...
We’re here for you!
How do we work smarter and not harder? Let's share with you our Cookie Crumb Method™!
In our Cookie Crumb Method™… you repurpose your content! This is a great productivity hack that you must try to include!
Here are a few ways of repurposing your video content!
- Take your video show and turn it into a podcast- you can literally strip the audio out and show up on a whole other platform.
- Why not take the podcast as a video or audio and break it down even further into 60-second fragments to place on your Instagram feed?
- You can take your video clip and place it as an IGTV on Instagram - then your community can stay on their native platform!
- You can take your videos and start a YouTube channel.
- Take the transcript from your video show and turn it into a blog! Or place the transcript on your website to increase SEO for your webpage.
- Now… you can take your transcript and turn it into an email newsletter!
- Take your video show thumbnail and create a Pinterest Pin so you can direct more traffic to your website
Instagram Live under 10 minutes can be downloaded and repurposed as a video that can be used for all of the above!
Now it’s time, it's commitment time!
Choose one of the above and take a piece of creative content and repurpose it to another format and now post one piece of content x 2 and then once you have the hang of that.. post it x 3!
Remember, just like a cookie, you will be breaking up your cookie and sharing the content on different platforms.

Episode 65 Transcript
Sophia: Hello, everyone. Welcome to another fantastic episode of the Boss It Podcast. My name is Sophia Noreen, and I'm going to be your host for today. And today, we are going to talk all about repurposing your content. And if you have not done so already guys, go ahead and hit subscribe, or follow on whatever platform you're using to listen to this podcast because we want to make sure that you never miss a single episode, and you get all the gems that we have to offer. So the reason why this is such an important and critical episode for many of our listeners is that many of you are creating content regularly. Many of you are busy. And we want to make sure that you are doing the best for your time and your energy. And we want to make sure that you are disseminating your knowledge to the masses without burning yourself out. And I know there is a lot of concern with burnout and a lot of concern with the number of platforms that we need to attend to, to be able to show up for our customer or audience or our client. Because there are many people that will be on YouTube, but then there'll also be people that are on Instagram. And then there'll be also people on TikTok, and people who may be Pinterest users. And the list goes on and on and on. So how do we make it easier for you as a content creator, as an individual who produces knowledge and provides knowledge and education, content to your followers and your customers? How do we make it easier for you to work smarter and not harder?
And I'm sure you all have heard that catchphrase in the past, to work smarter and not harder. It is a definite thing. People do need to learn how to really optimize and how they will put themselves out there. Because it's not like we're able to have endless amounts of time and endless amounts of energy. And many of us don't have endless amounts of money to go ahead and hire a team and delegate out all of these tasks. Because remember, it takes time and energy to make content. And it takes time and energy to edit the content. And it takes us time and energy and money if you need to hire team members to put the content out there and post it. And so, I know we're all facing the same time crunch, energy crunch, and financial or money crunch when it comes to how do we take one piece of content and then provide it to everybody. That's the real trick here. We want to make sure that you're not creating separate content for Instagram, and then you're going ahead and creating separate content for your YouTube channel if that's what you are using right now to connect with your client or connect with your customer. Or you go ahead and you prepare a blog, for example, and then you just place that on your website, or you just send out that content through email when you could have repurposed your podcast, for example, into a blog or into an email.
So this episode is all about how will you take the content, one piece of content or maybe two, and disseminate it throughout all of your social platforms. So you're showing up in different ways for your different clients, and you're showing up in different ways to allow your audience to absorb the content you have to offer in different mediums. Because everyone is a bit different when they absorb information. Some of us are very visual, we like to read. Some of us are very auditory, we like to listen. And then some of us are visual and auditory, and they want to see both, so like a video. So again, this is such a valuable episode. Again, this trick is so valuable and if you are a good friend to anybody who is in the knowledge sector and they are creating content regularly, especially for educational purposes. Make sure you do share this episode with them so they also benefit from this trick that many of us are using, and it may not be as obvious.
So let's get right into it. I'm going to give you an example of how we at Boss It Club take one piece of content and share it on many different platforms. We don't go and create new content for each platform. We are literally taking one recording, and we are sharing it. We do have the opportunity to do a little bit better here. We are hoping that we will end up sharing our content on even more platforms, which I will tell you about. So you can actually start it even maybe before we do, because why not?
Again, you're likely listening to this episode as a podcast because that is where we start. We literally start with our voice. Then we also record. So right now, if you're watching the podcast, you obviously can see me. If you're listening to the podcast, you can obviously hear me. But the goal really is to take this video and place it on YouTube. I like starting with YouTube because YouTube has a very specific format. You have specific calls to action, like, hit subscribe or ring the bell so you get notifications. You can also do the same thing with Instagram. You can say follow and ensure you hit the bell so you get the notifications. And I like to consider those platforms as the starting platform of choice because then you can easily transfer your video content and repurpose it into a podcast. So we literally take a video. We start with video, and we go ahead and we transfer that audio from the video into a podcast.
So now we have the audio for the podcast. So you've literally taken your video content, your video show, your video series, and you've taken it, strip the audio out and you can literally make it into a podcast, and have an entire podcast show that may be on Spotify or on Apple Podcasts. And you have just hit a whole other target audience. think about that. That is huge. You're not creating another separate podcast. You're not having to create new content. You're literally taking your video show, which potentially could be on YouTube, and you're taking and pulling out the audio. So that's the first way of repurposing your video clip.
The second way that you can repurpose your video clip is by taking your video and putting the whole video on IGTV. And I'm sure you've seen this multiple times. Multiple contact creators will take the video. They'll format it for Instagram TV or IGTV. And now, you literally have placed a long version video onto your Instagram. Now, again, you're hitting a different target audience. You're giving others the opportunity to digest the material that you have to offer in their native environments, let's say, Instagram. That way you're not calling people out of the platform to go onto YouTube. And again, I guess it depends on what your business model is. Some people are like, well, we want to be on YouTube because that's where we get ads. We get payments for our ads. But if you are creating content because your whole plan is to have individuals come and join you in a community, or they're purchasing mentorship or coaching from you, or perhaps you're just there to offer service and that's all it is. You don't necessarily need to be on YouTube to get your clients to be a part of your community. You can have them learn from you in the native environment like Instagram if that's where many people are absorbing content. the third way you can take your video content and put it onto another platform is by putting it within your Instagram feed. Now, what our team does and we do this very regularly is we take this video content and we chop it up into smaller segments that are 60 seconds long. And then we put it in the feed. And the best part about this is, that it highlights the main points of the episode. We can really highlight specific topics that we bring up in the episode. It's very bite-sized, so any viewer or any student can quickly grab it and listen to it without feeling overwhelmed with the content provided. So that is one of my favorite strategies because developing content for social media, as you know, is a very tedious job. And if we're already creating a beautiful video series like this one, then why not repurpose the content being offered and put it within the feed. So people who are not the type to listen to a whole IGTV or watch YouTube, or even listen to a podcast, still benefit from the material being provided within the video series or video show. So we did the podcast. We have the video show that helped you grab your audio for your podcast. You have your video show that's turned into a YouTube show. You have a video show that's now been converted into YouTube. And then you have IGTV. And then you also have your feed on your Instagram feed. You can place small video clips that are 60 seconds long. Now, there are still more ways for you to be able to take one piece of content and make it into another format so other people can actually absorb your content in the best way that is available to them.
Again, we've spoken about how some individuals are able to absorb content when it's more auditory, so listening. Some are more visual, and then some are both. So people still do read blogs. And blogs are still really great for your SEO, your search engine optimization for your website. So if you are a service provider, a coach, or even a product-based business and you have a website, it's really important for you to still use the SEO functionalities like a blog to help boost your SEO. That way, if you have an individual that's searching on Google and they put in a few of the keywords that your website keeps providing because of the content that you're providing on the website, it will show up organically and they're more likely to click through. That is why do not underestimate the value of SEO. And now, because of the video show that you're recording or the audio show that you'll be recording, you can strip out your transcript.
Now, we use Descript as our platform or software. I love Descript. It's one of my favorite software platforms that we use. And primarily because it does such a great job of creating a transcript, and then you take the transcript and you can place it right onto your website. Or you can reformat your transcript and turn it into a whole blog. So it's easier for the consumers of your content to read and understand and digest. So do not underestimate the value of a blog and how it can help with your search engine optimization, your SEO. You can also take your transcript and create an email. You can really scale it down. And if you're doing an email newsletter once a month or once a week, it's really great because now you have your video show. You literally just need to format it out so it looks nice and tidy and not too lengthy, and place it into an email. How great is that? Or you can have a call to action saying, my blog is up. Go ahead and click through and read my blog. And that's inviting the consumers of your content back to your website so they become more familiar with your website and with you.
So again, that is two more ways. So we have a total of six. We have six ways for you guys to take one piece of video content and place it on different platforms in different formats. Again, guys, I know it seems really overwhelming because you're thinking, oh my, I'm taking one piece of video content and I have to create it into a YouTube channel, IGTVs, and video clips on my Instagram feed. I can make it into a podcast. I can make it into a blog. I can make it into an email series. So that's six different ways for you to be able to take your one piece of content and use it for so many different platforms. It seems overwhelming but if you think about it, once you get into the habit of creating that content, it really comes down to just formatting it.
And again, I know not everyone has team members, but once you grow to have a team member, these are things that your team members can help you and support you with. And there is one more tip, tip number seven. When you feel good and ready, and you've maybe already in the Pinterest game, but Pinterest is a huge asset that many content creators have not started using yet because, obviously, it's just another one of the many tools that we have to use in the social media world. Pinterest is great because you have people that are searching, and these are active searches like how to start a business. And you can create a beautiful thumbnail for your blog that is going to get on your which you created from your video show.
And so, you see how that all ties in together. You just need to make the visual content, and then you pull people from an entirely different channel over to your website. And so it really does help to get that level of traffic to your website which is free. You're not paying for these individuals to come over to your website. You are offering content to them and they are clicking through coming to your website and then perhaps they'll be a regular listener to your show or a regular listener to your podcast, or listener to your YouTube channel.
So there are multiple reasons as to why you may want to tap into Pinterest at this point. Again, you're not creating a new piece of content but what you're doing is you are leveling up the content that you already have on your website by just creating one graphic and then pointing people to the blog or the video show that might be living on your website or perhaps even to your YouTube channel.
I think it's very easy for you to link back to YouTube on Pinterest. I'm not a hundred percent sure about that, but if you're the type of individual that hasn't started a website yet, and you're still living on a social media platform. Pinterest is still your good friend because you can still grab leads and bring them over to wherever you're hosting your knowledge and your content so that way, you're getting more leads without having to use paid advertising. This method is great. Going ahead and really sprinkling, I like to call it sprinkling your content, your knowledge content. And this concept's really great because you're literally sprinkling, like sprinkling your content. Your one video show, your one YouTube clip, you're literally taking it and you're sprinkling it throughout many different platforms, and you're not having to go ahead and really create more content that week. So I really feel that people should just create one piece of content a week and go ahead and reformat it and sprinkle it.
And I know it seems like a lot, again, but when you're good and ready for it, you do not need to go ahead and create a separate blog, create a separate podcast, create a separate video show, create additional IGTVs. You don't need to create more information, more feed reels, or you do not need to create more content for your Instagram feed, you just have to take what you already got. One other trick that we do actually is our podcast cover art, we literally take the same cover art and change it into one of our posts on Instagram. And so that's even a repurpose of something that has already been used elsewhere. That same podcast cover art can then also be used on Pinterest. We just reformat it, line it up a bit differently and then there you go. It's done.
So again, I want to encourage all of you. If you are in the knowledge-based business and you are creating content regularly, look at ways for you to be able to take one piece of content and make it into a different format, change the format, take the audio, take only clips of the video. Where can you place it? Can you prevent yourself from spending more time creating additional content? Because you've already made one piece of content.
Another really great hack and I have not yet tried this one is you can actually go live on Instagram as many of you probably know, and then you can save your video. So now, you have gone live. You've interacted with your followers and with your community in real-time, which is great. It's always really nice to have that connection with them. And then you are literally going to take that video. You can download it to your phone, then repurpose that even for a YouTube channel, or a video show that you host elsewhere. You can also take that IGTV and just save it to your Instagram profile. So now you've also provided Instagram feedback that you are an active participant and you are actually posting regularly.
So if you're doing an Instagram Live once a week, that's even more powerful because you're connecting with your community and then you can, again, repurpose your entire show. You can even take your IGTV show, your live show, and turn it into an IGTV. Download it, and you can strip the audio from that and make it into a podcast. So So now you have taken the ability to go live and changed it into so much more. I know guys, this is a lot of information from one show. So I'm going to go from the top. And if you have been grabbing some great knowledge from this show, I want you to pick one thing that you're going to commit to. So again, if you're a knowledge-based content creator and you want to put out more information on different platforms and you want to be more regular, this might be the trick for you. I want you to commit to one way of repurposing your content. So pick one way, say, for example, you decide to do Instagram live once a week. I want you to commit to taking that show and stripping it down or cutting it up and placing it on your Instagram feed in bite-sized chunks. Or pick one way or make it into a YouTube or a strip the audio and make it into a podcast, or strip the transcript out of it and make it into a blog. I want you to pick one way of repurposing your content. You'll be so happy because now you're going to be like, wow, I perhaps recorded for an hour, maybe, and now I have been able to repurpose that content and create five hours of content. Your podcasts would be there, your videos show on YouTube, your IGTV show. It looks like it can go on and on.
So again, I know it seems like a lot, but pick one and just get started. The more you do it, the easier it will become. And I promise you, over the long run, you'll have more organic growth, more organic audiences that will be connecting with you because now you're not just pulling from one area, you're not just pulling from YouTube, you're pulling from Instagram, you're pulling from Pinterest and you're getting organic traffic from your website because your SEO will be higher. These are great tricks and great ways of building a system that is working for you and for your team.
Again, the more your audience gets to see you and gets to know you, the more confident they will feel that you are the right person for them, and you're the right person to help guide them towards whatever the goal may be. It is overwhelming at the beginning, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes. And why not repurpose the content? Why do we need to only show up once? Why not sprinkle your content around? And I love this method. And I've coined this, the cookie crumb method because it's just a beautiful way for you to spread your sweetness, your goodness everywhere and without feeling overwhelmed because who feels overwhelmed when they eat a cookie. So that is the cookie crumb method where you go ahead and you sprinkle all of the goodness, all of the sweetness that you have to offer without having to create it over and over again. You're literally going to take your big cookie, going to smack it all up into pieces. You're going to sprinkle it all over. You're going to sprinkle it around in different formats like in a blog or on a podcast, or you're going to break it up and put it into small 60-minute bite-size video clips on your Instagram feed, or you're going to take the big cookie and you're going to put it as an IGTV, or the big cookie and you're going to essentially put it on YouTube, or you should take the chocolate chips out and you're going to go ahead and put it into a podcast format.
So I love the cookie crumb method for that reason. I think it is so essential so you don't burn out. But you're able to still share all the great knowledge that you have to offer. Okay, so the challenge is going to be that you're going to pick one piece of content and you're going to try to convert it to the second piece of content. It could be a video show. It could be a podcast. It could be an IGTV. It could be alive. Pick one content. That's my challenge for you guys for this week. I want you to get to it. I want you to make a plan and take action, as we always say. But just make sure that you are really taking the information in and doing the best you can when it comes to really share your knowledge and your information with the world.
For product-based businesses, I think this is also great. The cookie crumb method is fantastic for individuals who have how-to videos or unboxing videos, or information about their product. It's the same idea. If you're going to do a video show about your product, you literally can take that and turn it into a blog for your website. And blogs for websites are still very valuable for product-based businesses, they do increase the SEO. So do not underestimate the value of SEO written word on your websites. Again, the cookie crumb method could be used for both product and service-based businesses. Although I find it very, very useful for service-based businesses because there's a lot to say in a service model. You can say a lot about products as well, especially in how to use and how to format. So I'm challenging our product-based business owners as well, trying to develop some content and make sure you repurpose it.
Okay, guys, that is all for today. If you had a couple of great aha moments, make sure you do share this with any family or friends that you feel would benefit from this knowledge in how to break up your beautiful content and sprinkle it throughout so you're not spending hours and hours creating new content each week. Remember to hit subscribe or follow so you never miss another episode of the Boss It Podcast. And remember, make a plan and take action. And yes, you can have it all. And we will see you guys again next week. Take care. Bye.
